AI style tools — prompt patterns that work

How Artgen's AI style generators work and prompt patterns for painting, 3D-look and graphic styles, plus tips for consistent results.

Artgen's 30 AI style tools (oil painting, watercolor, anime, clay, isometric and more) each pair a style direction with your prompt. You describe the subject; the tool adds the style. All AI style tools use credits and need sign-in plus a compatible published model. Browse them all on Art tools. AI ASCII is a separate workflow and isn't included in this count.

How the style tools work

  • Text to art: you write subject, setting and mood; the selected style is applied on top. Don't repeat the style name in the prompt.
  • Style transfer: upload an image and the model reinterprets it in the style. Use a model with image-to-image support — see choosing a model.
  • 3D-look styles (clay, voxel, isometric, glass, chrome…) produce flat images with a rendered look, not 3D model files.

A prompt pattern that works across styles

[Subject with 1–2 details], [setting], [one light source], [framing], [mood].

Example: An elderly gardener beside a window, warm afternoon light on the face, deep green shadows, half-length portrait, quiet mood.

By family

Painting and drawing

Oil painting, watercolor, gouache, soft pastel, charcoal, ink wash, line art, ukiyo-e, woodcut.

  • Name where the light falls and how loose or detailed it should feel.
  • Ask for restrained texture if small faces or objects must stay readable.
  • For ink wash and line art, fewer elements and empty space work better.

3D-look and craft

Clay, voxel, low poly, isometric, glass, chrome, ceramic, needle felt, origami, miniature diorama, wireframe, 3D render.

  • Describe objects and materials, not painterly qualities.
  • A single object or a small scene on a plain background reads best.
  • For isometric and miniature diorama, say what's in the scene ("a tiny café with two tables and a bicycle outside").

Graphic and print-like

Anime, manga, editorial illustration, Art Nouveau, Bauhaus, collage, papercut, stained glass, surrealism.

  • Strong silhouette and clear composition matter more than detail.
  • Bauhaus and papercut like simple geometry; Art Nouveau and stained glass like a framed central figure.

Getting consistent results across several images

  • Reuse the same sentence structure and only swap the subject.
  • Keep the same model and canvas ratio for a set.
  • Fix the lighting and mood words ("soft morning light, calm") across the series.
  • AI results can differ on each run; generate a few and keep the best.
