Troubleshooting

Output looks wrong

Fix blurry, small, noisy or misaligned Artgen results — fixed-effect size, ASCII alignment, AI drift and wrong aspect ratio.

Result is small or soft

Fixed effects work on images resized to at most 512 px on the longest edge. Most fixed-effect PNGs keep that prepared size; ASCII instead renders a character grid at six pixels per column and eight per row, bounded by the same 512 px maximum. Viewed full-screen or printed large, the result can look soft or pixelated. Crop to the subject before uploading so more of those pixels go to what matters.

Why is my ASCII art misaligned?

ASCII art needs a monospaced font and every space and line break intact.

  • GitHub / Markdown: put it inside a fenced code block.
  • Terminal: turn off wrapping or reduce columns.
  • X, chat, email: fonts and spacing aren't guaranteed — share the PNG.
  • Lines wrapping: lower the column count.

Full details: ASCII guide.

ASCII art is just noise

Use a clearer subject, stronger contrast and a plain background; crop tight. Try Invert brightness if it looks like a negative.

Pixel art looks mushy or blotchy

Lower the pixel size, increase colors, or toggle dithering. See pixel art settings.

Print effect lost detail

Lower contrast (cyanotype), offset (risograph) or dot size (pointillism / pop art). See print effects.

AI result changed my photo too much

AI reimagine can reinterpret faces, objects and composition. Say what to keep in the prompt, make one change per run, or use a fixed effect if you want to avoid AI redrawing the scene. See the FLUX.2 [klein] 4B editing guide.

Wrong shape or crop

For AI create or reimagine, use the canvas settings offered by the selected model; AI output is not guaranteed to keep the uploaded image's proportions. Fixed effects preserve the source proportions during resizing, though ASCII's whole rows and columns can change the final ratio slightly. Crop before uploading when you want to control the framing.

Different result each time

Fixed effects are repeatable: same image + same settings = same result. AI results can differ on every run.

Image upload issues

Fix studio upload problems — PNG, JPEG and WebP validation, the 5 MB limit, fixed-effect resizing and transparent areas turning white.
